Easter Egg Hunt

Lily, Max, Skip & Julie and I all went to Decatur to attend the Easter Egg Hunt with the New Mom Crew, and we dressed Lily up in her Easter best! As you can see she looked fabulous and had a great time. Although Lily was a little young to actually hunt for Easter Eggs it did not seem to dampen her spirits!

She is getting so good at sitting up now I actually am happy to let her go and take her picture without being scared to death she will fall over.

Although I have nothing to compare it to, it being Lily's and my first ever Easter Egg Hunt, it seemed to be a little less crazed than I expected. The kids all waited patiently around the edge of the town square, with vast quantities of candy/sweets all laid out in front of them. That in itself was a minor miracle I thought. After they had made their introduction and declared the Easter Egg Hunt open, I expected mass carnage as children rushed for all that sugar, but actually they all just seemed to amble about politely picking up candy/sweets here and there and generally being cute instead of vicious. Amazing! Maybe the carnage would ensue if you tried to have an activity later in the day after they had eaten what they collected.

Happy Feet

Don't get me wrong, I am very happy with Lily's sleeping habits, 7am to 7pm , and two naps per day is great. In the evening she is zipped into her sleeping bag and tired out and goes straight to sleep lucky me.

Naps, however, are a different story! She stays in her daytime clothes and gets a blanket over her and even though she has been yawning, and rubbing her eyes, does not seem to agree that a nap is in order. She rolls around and chats to her bear and plays with her pacifier/soother (usa/ireland). It requires many visits and replacing of blankets, telling her, naptime little one, and turning her round so she is not wedged uncomfortably in a corner. And the latest, getting her feet stuck through the bars of the crib/cot.

I have started to bring the camera with me when I go in to check on her since I never know what I will find, and this was just so sweet. Babies feet are just too adorable, not sure at what age they suddenly become so icky! Don't worry, Lily was not harmed in the making of this post! I supposed I will have to get the kind of bumper that goes all the way round the crib/cot, boo no fun.

Happy St. Patrick's Day!

Haha! Don't they look like they are having fun! Well we had a St. Patrick's Day baby party at our house since the option to go out and drink lots of green beer was off the table this seemed like a fun thing to do.

Lily woke herself up this afternoon by rolling onto her tummy, she has never done that before in bed. She tends to move around but I heard her cry and when I went in she was face down, and lying across the bed instead of top to bottom. I think she cried because she woke up and didn't know what to do!

Good job Lily doing these things on holidays so I can remember when they happen. She started to play with her feet on Thanksgiving, rolled over onto her side at Christmas, and now flipped over on St Patrick's Day!

Too Funny Trumpet

This was too funny to keep to ourselves! Lily just discovered a little trumpet attached to a great playmat that she has, and it fascinated her.

Update

Julie arrived safe and sound despite a weather delay of about one hour. We are holding off on any plans until we see what the weather will do in Atlanta for the weekend but we will keep you posted!

Happy Birthday Joseph!

One of Lily's favorite friends Joseph turned one year old today and we helped him celebrate at his home in Buckhead. His mom Jenn had made a Hungry Caterpillar cake, brilliant! Chocolate inside so good for grownups.

Look What I Can Do!

I have just started to feed Lily with a bottle myself, for one of her feeds a day. I am weaning her gradually over the next month or so. She has been fed by her Daddy of course when I am at work but I don't usually witness her bottle feeds. So I was feeding her with a bottle and was so amazed at how she was taking the bottle with her hands, and trying to hold it up and feed herself. I told Max later when he came home all about it, and was so excited and proud as if I had discovered something new. He just very casually informed me that she has been doing that for a while and he taught it to her! Old news it seems!

Super Baby Food

I decided that I would make Lily's food myself, so I got the Super Baby Food book and all the fruit and veg from the farmers market and spent the morning steaming, baking and pureeing yesterday.

I started her with some food from jars, just to see if she like certain foods before I made huge batches of them. Since she takes after her parents and will seemingly eat anything, whether she likes it or not, we've all seen the peas video, I decided to forge ahead.

So we are stocked for the next while with apples, pears, avocado, butternut squash, zucchini, sweet potato, and of course carrots. I was wondering whether I would regret making this decision to make my own food but once I got going it was so quick and easy I am now happy with this whole situation. The more you hear about the scary preservatives etc they put in food the more I think this is the way to go. I'm sure that Lily will have some food from some jars when we are away from home but if most of her food is prepared from fresh fruit and vegetables it can't be bad!

Water??!!

With all the excitement of the solid foods, it never occurred to me that there would be an issue with a little drink of water after the meal. It is like I am trying to poison her when I try to give her it! I will keep trying, she is going to have to drink water at some point after all, but I am not sure she agrees with me on this one.

Yuk Peas

Well following the success of the carrots, I thought peas would be another yummy food for her, but it didn't go exactly as planned...note she still ate them all though.
