Bananas

What she is saying is...I love bananas....bananas are the best food ever....they are even better this way than mashed up....why do you even try to give me other food....mmmm bananas...

Snack Time

Lily's and my new favourite way have her afternoon bottle, lying on my bed. Why didn't I think of this sooner!!

First Tooth Update

So as you know Lily's first tooth popped through a few weeks ago, and of course I look at it twenty times a day to check it's progress. I did promise some proof as soon as I could so here goes, you have to look pretty close...

Highlands, NC

Max and Lily and I went on our first vacation/holiday with just the three of us. It was lots of fun! We went to a town called Highlands, North Carolina. It is up in the mountains about 2 hours 15 mins driving from Atlanta. We stayed on the main street of the village, which was great to be able to walk straight from our room to the shops and restaurants. A short drive in every direction brings you to beautiful mountain scenery, with waterfalls and lakes. Lily was a hit in the village and made friends for us wherever we went.

Since Lily naps at 9am for 1 1/2 to 2 hours, it made perfect sense to leave at 9am and hope she would sleep pretty much the whole drive. We left a little later than that, and she only slept for half the drive, but she seemed happy enough so we were too! We did the same thing on the way back, and she slept for longer that time.

This was the pretty lake where we stopped for lunch. Well at least we fed Lily her lunch and we each had some Sprite. We had become pretty good with the self timer on the camera at this stage.

This was called the Dry Falls. Of course we got pretty wet walking behind it but it was worth it! We were interested to see how Lily would react to the noise of the water, and the spray, it was really loud, but she was happy as long as we were happy.

This was a pretty waterfall called the Bridal Veil. You can drive underneath it, it is right beside the road, and goes over the small side road that it is on. Some nice friendly bikers took our picture and even gave us back our camera.

Random Stuff

I had a few friends over with their babies last week. As they all get older they are all addicted to Cheerios and of course they end up everywhere. The mums always try to start cleaning up after their kids but I tell them there is no point because one of the very few benefits of having a dog is that he does a better job than any vacuum cleaner when food is involved. So after they went home, I let Paddy loose...

We were invited to a Cinco de Mayo pool party at our friend Laura's house in Buckhead. It was so nice and sunny and we had a great time. Here is what Lily wore. Nothing on this earth could make me post a picture of me in my bikini!

I think Lily decided I had completely lost my mind when I tried to feed her Kiwi. She was looking at me as if to say, do you really think I will eat this??!!

Screaming

What am I supposed to do about this! She can go for hours, and thinks it's lots of fun. I can say 'no', but she thinks that is so funny, and smiles, and then well I've run out of options. There are not too many consequences you can offer a 8 1/2 month old!

First Tooth

Lily is getting her first tooth, finally or just on time depending on who you talk to. It is the bottom front left tooth, which I'm sure has some proper dentist term but you know what I mean. There have been two white bumps in her gum there for ever it seems so I had all but given up on seeing teeth any time soon, then all of a sudden Lily is cranky for two days and then there is a split in her gum, and I suppose a tooth coming through. As yet you cannot really see it, but if I let her bite my finger you really can feel it!

Sorry for the lack of picture or video but you can imagine how hard it would be to get some type of footage of a slit about 2mm long in the bottom gum of a baby's mouth. Maybe Stephen Spielberg could manage it but not me. I will make sure to get some pictures as soon as there is an actual tooth. I'm sure we can pin her down for a few seconds for the good of the blog.

Learning to Eat

Lily has seemed so interested in taking the spoon and feeding herself recently, so I gave her the spoon just to see what would happen. I think she did brilliantly! I'm sure she will get the hang of it in no time.

So Sweet

I had to run to get the camera when I saw this. I have been teaching Lily to give me a kiss, but I didn't think she was really learning it. I was so wrong! She clearly understands a lot more than I think. I better stop cursing around her..
