Operation gratitude

We decided to find something useful to do, if that could be possible, with all of the Halloween Candy that the girls got from Trick-or-Treating. Annabelle's playschool teacher Kim told us she had heard of a program that collects candy to send to the American Troops serving overseas, so I was able to find the information online. It is called Operation Gratitude, and the candy drive they have each year is called Operation Candy BuyBack. They accept candy at certain dentist's offices around the country and also have a mailing address. They pair with dentists as they also ask you to send toothbrushes, mouthwash and floss. Also requested are thank you cards or kid's drawings to include with the care packages.

Anyway we thought that was a wonderful thing to do, and after some very interesting conversations about what soldiers do and where they are, and why they should deserve some of our candy, the  girls seemed excited about the idea!

We decided to get two bowls, one for each of the girls, and they could fill it up with the candy they wanted to keep for themselves, and the rest would go overseas to the soldiers. Since Annabelle was not really getting what was going on, Lily offered to fill up both bowls. Can you guess which bowl Lily filled for herself, and which one she filled for Annabelle?

Yes, that is correct, Lily's is the one where you can't even see the bowl under all that candy. Annabelle's is the one with the few pieces of non-name brand candy!

Here is Lily looking not too sure about the giant box of leftover candy that is about to leave the house. Also, see how happy Annabelle is about the whole thing?! (The lollipop might have helped).

School Pictures 2013

This is Lily's class at the Mary Evans Childhood Development Center. Her teachers are Mary Beth (L) and Elaine (R), she also has a teacher named Heather that is not in this picture.

Spills

What? Me? No, I would never throw my crackers all over the floor so I could sweep them up, and then get bored of that and just eat them off the floor, that doesn't sound like me at all...

Fun

Our friends the Devlins came to visit this afternoon and we had lots of fun playing, and then had dinner together.
